While Qualcomm is normally more of a behind-the-scenes player in the tech industry, the company has revealed that its much-mooted entry to the smartwatch market will happen in December.

The Qualcomm Toq will be made available on Cyber Monday, which to you and me is December 2. It will sport the Qualcomm Mirasol display technology for a low-power “always-on experience” and “multiple days” of battery life. It seems that one of the key reasons for the limited-edition smartwatch is to showcase Qualcomm technologies including Mirasol, AllJoyn (open source ‘Internet of Everything’ project) and WiPower LE wireless charging.

The Toq will be compatible with Android smartphones only, featuring OS 4.0.3 and above, though 4.3 Jelly Bean is preferred. Pricing starts at $349.99 and will be available to buy online through Qualcomm.
