From war zones, to birthday parties and concerts: more and more things are being broadcast online by ordinary people through apps and services like Facebook Live and Periscope.

Now, it’s about to get even easier. Twitter has updated its Android and iOS apps to allow users to start a Periscope stream from within it.

To go live, just start to compose a tweet. You’ll then see an icon that says ‘Live’. This will then bring you to the pre-broadcast screen, where you can frame up your shot. When you’re happy, tap ‘Go Live’ to start your broadcast.

Twitter acquired Periscope last year, so it makes sense that they’d try to bake its functionality into the main app. I just wonder why it took this long.
