Xiaomi may be China’s top smartphone vendor based on the last quarter, but it also offers smart TVs and set-top boxes. Those latter products have caught the interest of US games company Ouya, which is planning to bring its games platform to them, Reuters reports.
Update: Ouya has confirmed the deal on Twitter.
Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman told Reuters that gaming could give Xiaomi an edge over other smart TV rivals. The alliance would also give Ouya an entry into the lucrative Chinese market, though smart TV gaming is still a nascent segment there.
