Update, 29 September 2026
This article has been updated with OpenAI’s commitment not to reintroduce the five-hour limit on Pro 200.
OpenAI is halving the usage included in its $200 ChatGPT Pro plan and launching a $500 plan with its fastest speed tier. It also unveiled shared team workspaces, a meeting note-taker and @ChatGPT for Slack and Microsoft Teams. The launches came at DevDay 2026 in San Francisco on Tuesday, attended by 2,500 developers.
They are among more than 20 launches in OpenAI’s DevDay recap, alongside its always-on dots agents and its cheaper Sol model. Dots will not reach Pro users in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the UK for now, OpenAI said in a statement sent to press. ChatGPT has 1.2 billion weekly users, and over 35 million people build with Work and Codex weekly, the company said.
“We believe AI can help bring about a new renaissance of creativity and discovery,” OpenAI wrote in the recap.
Shared work in ChatGPT
ChatGPT Space replaces Library as a shared home for a team’s files and documents. Its main format is pages, a new type of document that teammates, ChatGPT and dots can edit together. Pages can update themselves from connected tools. Space is available on Pro, Business and Enterprise plans on web and desktop. On mobile, users can find, read and share pages, and editing is coming soon.
Collaborative slides are coming in the next few weeks on the same plans. Teammates and agents can edit a deck at the same time, then export it to PowerPoint or Google Slides. Business and Enterprise users can also form teams in ChatGPT and set up Team Tasks. These run on a schedule or when an event happens, such as a new message in a Slack channel.
People can now mention @ChatGPT in Slack and Microsoft Teams channels, threads and direct messages. Teammates do not need their own ChatGPT licence to use it. It asks for approval before it takes action in connected tools, according to OpenAI’s product page.
A Meetings plugin takes notes on calls or in-person conversations without a bot joining. It is in beta in the Mac desktop app for Pro and Business users. Users must tell everyone in the meeting and get their consent first, OpenAI’s help page says. The app’s consent reminder is visible only to the user and does not notify others. OpenAI says it deletes the audio once the notes are ready.
Coding and developer tools
Codex can now run coding tasks in the cloud, where each task keeps working while the developer’s computer is asleep. OpenAI also refreshed the Codex command-line tool, so users can start and steer tasks with their voice and track several at once. A new Code Review experience in the desktop app summarises changes and flags possible issues before feedback goes to GitHub or GitLab.
Codex Security Cloud scans GitHub repositories, checks new commits and prepares fixes. It includes access to OpenAI’s Daybreak Blue models. The Agents API now supports computer use, letting developers build agents that work in an OpenAI-hosted browser. A Decisions API, in limited preview, uses the Luna model to pick from a fixed set of answers.
With Amazon, OpenAI launched Bedrock Managed Agents in limited preview, so companies can run OpenAI agents entirely inside AWS. Customer data never leaves AWS, according to the AWS product page.
Plugins and Sites
Developers can now build plugin extensions, which put their apps in the ChatGPT sidebar, beside conversations or in file viewers. OpenAI named Canva, Figma and Adobe as early examples. Plugins can also start automations when something happens in a connected app, using the proposed MCP Events standard.
Sites, OpenAI’s tool for building websites and apps in ChatGPT, can now host plugins on Business, Enterprise, Healthcare and Edu plans. New shareable profiles let users show off their Sites and see their activity. Personal profiles are private by default.
Plans and pricing
A new Pro 500 plan costs $500 a month and is the only Pro plan with Ultrafast. OpenAI said Ultrafast generates up to 300 tokens per second in Codex, up to eight times faster than standard. Pro 200 is open to new subscribers again, but with a lower usage allowance than before, OpenAI’s Pro help page says. From 30 October, Pro 200’s included usage in ChatGPT Work and Codex falls from 20 times to 10 times the Plus allowance, OpenAI said. GPT-6 Pro messages in chat fall from 200 to 100 a week. Existing subscribers keep their current limits until 29 October and get a one-time grant of usage credits worth $2,500, which expire at the end of the year. OpenAI said it will not reintroduce Pro 200’s five-hour limit.
Sign in with ChatGPT lets Plus and Pro users spend their plan’s usage in 16 partner tools, including Devin, Notion and Vercel. Users can cap each app’s weekly usage. The apps do not get access to users’ conversations or memories, OpenAI said.
For businesses, the OpenAI Marketplace lets eligible US enterprise customers put part of their OpenAI spending commitments toward approved software. Its 32 beta partners include Adobe, Figma, Salesforce and CrowdStrike. OpenAI also introduced Private Intelligence, which lets automated safety reviews run without OpenAI staff seeing the content. A Private Inference preview is due this autumn.
“OpenAI’s no-training commitment and ZDR give Glean confidence to build with OpenAI,” said Sunil Agrawal, chief information security officer at Glean, referring to zero data retention.
On Monday, OpenAI said its agents had posted users’ images online, affecting 53 ChatGPT users.
