Mozilla wants to teach you how to teach others about the Web

Mozilla wants to teach you how to teach others about the Web

Almost two years after launching its Webmaker initiative, Mozilla is launching a new online crash-course to give anyone the skills to teach other people about using and building on the Web.

It’s called Webmaker Training and features four modules covering the basics of the Internet, how to use Mozilla’s current crop of Webmaker tools, nurturing open learning and engaging with other communities on the Web.

The classes are being offered ahead of Maker Party, Mozilla’s annual campaign that promotes hands-on, community-driven events about the modern Web. It’s being run from July 15 to September 15 this year, so there’s plenty of time for would-be instructors to learn and practise their teaching skills beforehand.

Each mini-course includes a bunch of course materials, some hands-on activities and a discussion forum for gathering peer feedback. Some of the Webmaker team will also be on-hand to give the module some structure, and Mozilla has also scheduled some video hangouts to really bring everyone together.

If you’re still unsure, the nonprofit is sweetening the deal with a Webmaker Mentor Badge for participants that submit completed course assignments. Particularly active and engaged members also have the chance to earn the Super Mentor Badge. Did I mention that all four modules are free?

You can express your interest for the Mozilla Webmaker Training courses here. A step-by-step guide for participating in the courses is also available here.
