If a flyer on Verizon Wireless’ website is accurate, the Motorola XOOM Android Honeycomb tablet could ship without Adobe Flash support with compatibility coming in “Spring 2011”.
Engadget spotted the small print on a XOOM promotional flyer, which lists some of the Motorola tablet’s impressive specifications and asks visitors to enter their email address to sign up for future updates on the device.
There are numerous reasons why Flash won’t be available at launch, the most likely being that the current Flash builds are not optimised for use on the Android Honeycomb operating system. Users on the official Motorola forums are also suggesting that Flash has not been adapted to run optimally on Nvidia’s Tegra 2 dual-core processors.
We are awaiting confirmation from both Motorola and Verizon, we will update you as soon as we know what is causing the delay.
