Microsoft says Surface revenue doubled from $400M in Q1 to $893M in Q2, sells 3.9M Xbox Ones and 3.5M Xbox 360s

Microsoft today released its earnings results for its second fiscal quarter, revealing a slew of numbers, including for its Surface and Xbox businesses. Revenue from the company’s tablet computers more than doubled from $400 million in Q1 to $893 million in Q2.

That’s excellent news for the company, as the company previously took a $900 million inventory charge for the original Surface RT in Q4. While the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 are by no means flying off the shelves, this means the company is certainly seeing more success the second time around.

Speaking of hardware sales, the company also sold 7.4 million Xbox console units into the retail channel. Broken down by model, this included 3.9 million Xbox One consoles and 3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles.
