Microsoft releases Lync for iOS

Microsoft releases Lync for iOS

On the heels of releasing Lync for both Windows Phone and Android, Microsoft has today made available appicaitons for both the iPad and iPhone.

Lync is Microsoft’s enterprise chat system, and is also a component of the Office 365 cloud productivity system. You can download the iPad application here, and the iPhone application here.

Lync has been one of the bright spots in Microsoft’s recent history, with the product being well received, and growing in strides. Office 365 has also been performing strongly. TNW recently caught up with the Office team, and they confirmed that it continues to perform at high levels.

The Windows Phone and Android Lync applications made it to market first. Sharp eyed writers here at TNW pointed out the the iOS app store is currently dealing with a bit of a backlog, what with the holidays and the like, so the delay of these specific applications should have no more read into it than things are hectic in Cupertino.

Microsoft has been on a mobile kick recently, also putting SkyDrive applications into the market for both Windows Phone and iOS. In that case, Android was essentially left on the sidelines for reasons unknown. But Microsoft has shown willingness to develop for Apple’s mobile line, if for no other reason than it has little choice in the matter.
