Remember the most excellent news that Microsoft would be offering FIFA 14 for free in Europe with all Xbox One pre-orders? Well, all isn’t what it seems.

A tweet sent out by Graeme Boyd, Social Marketing Manager, Xbox EMEA, reveals it will only apply to the special ‘Day One’ edition of the console, which flies contrary to previous announcements, such as this: “…all pre-orders of Xbox One will ship with FIFA 14 in Europe”. That said, the ‘Day One’ element of the offer is mentioned in a separate announcement the same day.

The listing on the Microsoft Store is still confusing too, with the official images showing the FIFA 14 game on the box, but the console packaging seems to be for the standard Xbox One, not the special edition incarnation.

It’s safe to say, this will likely rile many gamers out there.
