LG has taken the wraps off its latest oversized-smartphone — phablet — the VU 3: an Android-powered device boasting a 5.2-inch HD/IPS screen, as announced in a Korean announcement.
The company has dropped the Optimus branding — per its recent marketing move — but the Vu 3 retains the 4:3 aspect ratio of its predecessor, with a 1280 x 960 pixel screen resolution. There’s a 13-megapixel snapper — which records 1080p video recording at 30 fps — and LED flash on the back, while the front-facing camera comes in at 2.1 megapixels.
The smartphone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm and comes with Android Jelly Bean (build 4.2.2) preloaded.
Like its predecessors, the Vu 3 is equipped with a stylus, and features a range of software that includes LG’s KnockOn ‘tap-to-turn-on’ feature and SmartLink cross-device sharing.

There are no details on price or international launch, but it will be available in Korea from September 27 — becoming another device that runs on the zippy LTE-A networks offered by local carriers.
