Kobo launched three of its e-readers – the Kobo Touch, Kobo Glo and Kobo Aura HD – and its Kobo Arc Android tablet in India today alongside its Kobo eBookstore digital marketplace.

The devices will be sold through booksellers Crossword and WH Smith and electronics retailer Croma in retail stores across the country.

The Kobo Touch will be sold for Rs. 7, 999, the Kobo Glo for Rs. 10,999, the Kobo Arc for Rs. 11, 999 and the Kobo Aura HD for Rs. 13,999. As part of an introductory offer, the Kobo Arc and Touch will be discounted to Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 6,999 respectively until November 3.

Kobo faces tough competition from Amazon, which is selling its entry level Kindle for Rs. 5,999 and Kindle Paperwhite for Rs. 10,999. The 7-inch Kindle Fire HD, meanwhile, is priced at Rs. 11,999; identical to the normal sticker price of the Kobo Arc.
