Japan’s largest operator NTT Docomo is launching a new roaming package that gives customers unlimited use of mobile data while overseas for upwards of $9.60 (980 JPY) per day.
The cost of the deal varies based on the country: in South Korea it is just 980 JPY, but that rises to 1,280 JPY ($12.60) in the UK and 1,580 JPY ($15.60) in the US.
While it isn’t exactly on a par with T-Mobile USA’s free unlimited data and text roaming deal, the service — which launches December 2 — is a decent start to help reduce some customers’ bills. It’s cheaper to buy a local SIM and load it with pre-pay credit if you plan on spending significant time abroad, however.
