1. S O H N – Red Lines
S O H N is ready to put his mark on 2013. Releasing three stunning songs last year, acting like a mysterious anonymous , the Vienna-via-London based producer has got everything he needs to make 2013 ‘his’ year. He has got the production skills, combining warm chords with strong drumlines, and most of all his incredibly beautiful soulful voice. The expectations for S O H N are growing daily, but there are no clear suggestions of a full length album dropping anytime soon.

2. AlunaGeorge – Your Drums, Your Love
Coming from the same background as 2012’s UK hits Disclosure and Jessie Ware there is little doubt about if they’re going to make it to the charts with their full album Body Music dropping this year. The only question that remains is how far can they take it. The duo, compiled of a singer, Aluna, and a producer, George, have already been applauded for their modern style of R&B with clear influences from successful UK acts like Bondax, while not being shy of some hints of pop music. Though there are a lot of genre-labels to be placed, one word that just describes it all is ‘futuristic’ and if amount of times being in a 22tracks playlist is a sign, AlunaGeorge is destined to make it in 2013.

3. Chance the Rapper – Brain Cells
Chance the Rapper is a 19-year-old rapper who grew up on the South Side of Chicago, where he walks around all day to sell tickets for his shows, T-shirts and mixtapes. His laid back tracks can be repeated infinitely and his technical abilities as a rapper are far above average. When he got suspended by his school for 10 days he created a brand new mixtape called… 10 Day. Brain Cells definitely stood out and it’s just a matter of time for Chance to get major recognition in the coming year.

4. Figgy – Only You
The electronic music scene is more dense than ever and it’s becoming harder and harder for producers to end up floating on top. Some give up in that struggle, but luckily some keep putting out quality music and one day will be ‘discovered’ by the people that they tried to reach in the first place. One of those artists that recently got discovered is Figgy, a producer hailing from New York. He has been making music for a while but his latest EP released by Symbols Recordings is finally getting the attention it deserves. Expect big things from this producer in 2013.

5. Hiatus Kaiyote – Nakamarra
Nakamarra was easily one of the greatest tracks of 2012. Hiatus Kaiyote are an “independent future soul group” based in Melbourne. What a talents, what a harmony and what an amazing warm sound. The group doesn’t even exist two years yet, but the music industry is watching. Their Tawk Tomahawk debut album was a great first record and Hiatus Kaiyote is just moments away from really breaking through. A recent live session on Youtube, performing a new song called Jekyll, will only maximize the expectations one can have for this group.
