HTC’s new mid-range Desire 500 smartphone will launch in the EMEA region in August

Two weeks after HTC first unveiled its new mid-range Desire 500 smartphone in Taiwan, the manufacturer has now announced it will be arriving across the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) later this month.

The latest Desire-branded handset features a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, HTC BlinkFeed; and Video Highlights. It will be available in Lacquer Black and Glacier Blue, and sports a 4.3inch display, 8MP main camera and a 1.6MP front-facing camera. It has 4GB built-in storage, but it does support microSD cards of up to 64GB. In some “select markets”, it will be available with dual SIM support and NFC too.

The handset will be available in the EMEA region – though the exact markets weren’t given – from August 2013. Full details including stockists and prices are yet to be announced.
