Google has just shared its packed itinerary for the CES conference in Las Vegas this year, and it should be quite interesting to hear what the company has to say about its electronics initiatives.
Starting things off will be Eric Schmidt speaking on a panel tomorrow at 3pm PT, so be sure to mark that one in your calendars and have the livestream handy. Schmidt is part of what CES is calling a “Super Session”, so it must be good, right? Joining Schmidt for this panel will be Tim Baxter, President of the Consumer Electronics Division at Samsung.
I suspect that the two will discuss some Android numbers with us, since the new Galaxy Nexus dropped just last month. What I’m really hoping to hear about is this rumored Galaxy tablet that Schmidt teased a few weeks ago. It’s unlikely that the former Google CEO will go into any great detail, but I’m hoping that CNET drills him a little bit on it. CES would be the perfect platform for more beans to be spilled on the project, with many discussing Apple’s next iPad.
In addition to Schmidt’s panel appearance, Google shared the rest of the Tuesday’s festivities:
- Google’s senior policy counsel Rick Whitt will participate in the Innovation Policy Summit Session: Spectrum for Wireless Broadband: Putting the Puzzle Pieces Together in LVCC North Hall N264 at 10:15am PT.
- On the education front, Angela Lin, manager of YouTube EDU, will present on “High Tech U”—digital tools and services that are changing the traditional ivory tower—at 3:00pm PT in LVCC North Hall N256.
- End the day at 5:00pm PT with CNET’s Women In Tech panel, featuring Marissa Mayer, VP of product management, in LVCC South Hall, Upper Level Lobby – CNET Stage.
While it is rumored that Marissa Mayer has been ousted from the famed Google “inner circle”, her appearance means that it’s highly unlikely, and it will be interesting to see if Mayer gives us an update on Google’s social success.
Almost as an aside, Google mentions that you should check out its Google TV product at the booths of its partners:
Don’t forget to check out Google TV around CES this year. Recently announced new partners LG, Marvell, MediaTek join Samsung, Sony and Vizio having new devices to play with at their booths.
It’s really hard to get excited about a product that has gotten mixed reviews, let alone gets mentioned by its creator at the end of a blog post about an electronics conference. It’s a good thing that we have part of The Next Web team on the ground at CES, as they’ll be able to give us the skinny on what Google is really up to.
Be sure to come back for full CES coverage.
