Right after a major Docs phishing scam began doing the rounds, Google has updated its Gmail app for Android to help users avoid falling for such traps.
The new feature warns users when they tap on a suspicious link in an email. As Android Police notes, it’s likely that this draws from Google’s Safe Browsing database of known malicious sites.
The update is rolling out gradually, so it should be on your device within a matter of days from now. We’ve contacted Google to find out about the status of this feature on iOS and will update this post if there’s a response.
