Google today announced iOS Sync for Google Apps, a new device management feature for your Apple devices. iOS Sync will be built directly in to the company’s Gmail and Google Drive apps.
Here’s a list of the product’s features:
- Manage Google Apps: Set a policy that prompts employees to enroll their device when they log into Google Apps such as Google Drive and Gmail.
- Configure WiFi networks: Distribute WiFi passwords and certificates to employees so they can easily connect to trusted networks.
- Support for existing policies: Manage password requirements, data encryption and camera policies, as well as actions like remotely wiping a device, activation approvals and blocking devices.
Customers running Google Apps for Work, Education and Government will gain access to iOS Sync next week. Company administrators can turn it on in the Google Apps admin console.
iOS Sync will work on devices running iOS 7 and iOS 8. As you’d expect, Google already offers a device management solution for Android.
