YPlan, a mobile app designed to help you figure out what to do at night, is stretching its wings and is now servicing New York City. This is the second city for the company and the first in the United States.
Expansion to NYC hasn’t really been a secret as the company hinted that it would be moving across the Atlantic as recently as August when it launched its iPad app.
The service competes against the likes of WillCall and Sosh and in making its way to the US, users can download the iOS app and find out sports, comedy, music, and other events taking place each night in the city that never sleeps. It launched in 2012 and originally was only available in London.
Company co-founder Rytis Vitkauskas said in a statement: “There’s already a huge global trend in mobile commerce, with consumers purchasing everything from cabs to hotels straight from their smartphone. With YPlan, having an amazing night out is now just as easy. It’s the perfect app for the truly spontaneous.”
To date, YPlan has been installed on over 15 percent of iPhones in London and downloaded more than 300,000 times this summer. It recently signed an investment deal with American Express along with raising $12 million, and is already planning its next move after NYC.
