Getty Images teams up with Instagram for photography grant program

Getty Images, the photo agency, has announced a new grant program in collaboration with Instagram,

The first Getty Images Instagram Grant is designed to support photographers using Instagram to showcase “underrepresented communities” worldwide. Images can be captured on any type of camera, and are not restricted to mobile devices.

Said Getty in a statement, “We recognize that Instagram has introduced new opportunities for emerging voices, outside the mainstream media, to create and share projects of social importance. This grant provides financial support and mentorship to amplify their impact.”

Applicants will be judged based on the work appearing in their Instagram accounts with a concentration on image quality, visual storytelling skills and subject matter. Interested photographers must also include in their application a biography, description of their approach and style, and topics they have covered.
