Foursquare releases an iOS 8 Swarm widget for one-tap check-ins

Foursquare releases an iOS 8 Swarm widget for one-tap check-ins

If having to switch to the separate Swarm app has got you down on Foursquare, a new iOS feature might convince you to come back. An update to the app has added support for an iOS 8 widget that lets you check-in from the Today section of the Notification Screen and see a handful of nearby friends.

To activate the widget, you’ll need to download the update and then hit the “Edit” button at the bottom of the Today screen. From there, you can add Swarm to your list of approved widgets. For my part, I don’t see the Swarm option in the Notification Center even after installing the update.

I actually hadn’t bothered to re-install Foursquare and Swarm since upgrading my phone to iOS 8, as the two-app relaunch took away a lot of my motivations for checking in. Now that the iOS widget makes check-ins easier, I’m going to give the service another go.
