The much abuzz online application FourSquare which has been launched almost everywhere in the world, also announced its arrival in India a few days back. And it started with the India commercial capital Mumbai to test the service.

A short brief for those who still aren’t aware what this service does, its a application which allows its users to check-in to various  parks, bars, museums, restaurants, whatever using their iPhone or Android Smartphone applications or by manually checking in using the mobile browser on other mobile phones.

Apart from being a fun social application and tracking friends, it also has completely changed the online location based advertising.  It provides you with discounts, offers, new deals and even suggests you places near you check-in updates. I started using this service a few days back  but lack of Indian users and since its just covering one city, this service is still not that responsive for us.

With Wireless technology and the growing number of social media users in India, could location based advertising be the ultimate advert campaign? For now, lets start checking in.
