The Financial Times’ (FT) publisher Pearson has long since offered its content to developers via APIs, but now it’s looking to open up access to the FT’s content specifically to students.
Today’s news follows June’s announcement that it would be offering education customers royalty free republishing rights, and now further light has been shed on the new FT Education API which gives those in education access to free content from the Financial Times.
The API was built on Pearson’s existing developer platform, and gives free access to up to 1,000 FT articles for thirty days after their original publication, while the rest of us remain on the wrong side of the digital paywall. This will allow FT articles to be integrated into students’ digital learning resources.
