Having finally rolled out Timeline access to its 800 million+ users in the browser and on Android devices, Facebook has today pushed live a new update for its iPhone application, delivering a slick new mobile Timeline view and various other improvements.
Whilst Facebook has made Timeline available to iPhone users (for those that have activated the option on their profiles), the company says that iPad support is coming soon, suggesting it is working on tailoring the Timeline experience specifically for Apple tablet devices.
Also rolling out with the new update are “access to friend lists, subscribers and subscriptions”, “faster, better performance” and photos are now “easier to view, upload and comment on”.
The new iOS design is remarkably similar to Path’s latest redesign, putting the focus on cover images to add a sense of personality to profiles. Updates continue to be categorised but have also been given slick individual touches to make it easier to view photos and statuses directly within the app.
Facebook says that the app is now faster and more reliable, that remains to be seen. Whilst the company has been quick to iterate, its mobile applications have been laggy, buggy and suffer from frequent crashes.
