Facebook has been testing a new feature that prompts users to sign up for notifications when they like a page, as noted by Inside Facebook.

Update: Facebook has confirmed that it performed the test, but it is no longer live.

The new pop-up box isn’t appearing for everyone, but when it does, it presents fans with the options “get notifications” or “not now”. Notifications, which

The move should help appease Facebook Page owners that have complained about only reaching a small portion of their fan base with their posts. Of course, the option always remains for page managers to pay to promote their posts, but Facebook has to strike a delicate balance between organic promotion and paid advertising.
