Facebook Gets a Suggested User List

Facebook Gets a Suggested User List

Following in the footsteps of nearly every social network I’ve ever used, it’s good to see Facebook is now offering new users some ideas on who they should connect with.  According to the Facebook Blog, the new feature is rolling out as we speak.

Obviously, if they’re new, they don’t have a lot of friends on the service.  Also, Facebook hasn’t had a chance to really dig in and get the gist of who you are yet.  The new Suggested list will help clear the air, somewhat.

The suggestions are based on basic demographics, and will offer new users some ideas about where they can connect, based on what others similar to them have found interesting.  Of cource, Facebook being a social network, the blog is also suggesting the following:

If you see that a friend or family member has recently joined Facebook, suggest a Page to them that they might like. Maybe you both are fans of the same musicians or follow similar sports teams. Just click the “Suggest to Friends” link underneath the profile picture on those Facebook Pages and help your friends get started.

So reach out to your new friends, or even those ones that haven’t picked up too many interests yet, and help to grow the Facebook swarm.
