Starting today, the latest iteration of Facebook for Android lets you save videos that you can later watch offline.
Simply click the dropdown menu of any video and select ‘Save Video’ to use the newly added function. The footage will soon appear under ‘Videos’ in your ‘Saved’ directory.
To avoid confusion, the feature does not let you download videos straight to your phone; rather, it keeps the file within your Facebook app so you can later view the video offline. This means that you can only access offline videos from within the app itself.
Facebook is not the first company to offer such functionality to its users. Back in 2014, YouTube introduced offline videos for mobile and, more recently, Amazon Prime rolled out a similar feature for iOS and Android.
Make sure you update to the latest version of Facebook (85 or 86 beta) to access the new functionality.
