By now you’ve probably owned, or had a friend that owned, a Roomba. Those robot vacuum cleaners are the best thing to happen to overly-busy (or overly-lazy) people in ages. But what if you could take the inspiration behind Roomba and apply it to a lawn mower, so that you never had to personally mow your grass again?
That’s exactly what LawnBott has done. The company, a US subsidiary of Japan’s Kyodo has built a fleet of different lawn-mowing robots, including its newest, the LB1500 SpyderEVO.
It operates on a similar idea as the Roomba, as well. By setting up a wired perimeter around the area that you want mowed, the SpyderEVO is assured to stay where you want it. Also, it’s powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, so there’s no gas, no oil and it should be relatively maintenance-free.
At $1,799 MSRP it’s not for the faint of wallet, but time is more valuable than money to almost anyone who can afford for it to be.
