Drops First Aid is an essential iOS app that could help you save lives

Drops First Aid is an essential iOS app that could help you save lives

None of us want to imagine what it would be like to stumble across a car crash, a stroke victim or someone lying unconscious. These situations do happen though, and it’s vital that you stay calm and take the appropriate action in order to ensure everyone’s safety.

it’s a sad truth that most of us lack the time to attend a proper course in key emergency skills. Drops First Aid, an iOS app by Dynamisk Helse AS, has been released to try and teach people emergency behaviour in a simple, engaging way.

As the company’s website suggests, it may just be “the most important app you’ll ever own.”

Once you’ve launched the app, you’ll be greeted with a number of different courses relating to different emergency situations. Tap once to reveal a set of immediate steps, which appear incredibly quickly and are useful in case you’re referring to the app in the heat of the moment.

If you’re just practising or brushing up on your knowledge however, there is a step-by-step video which will demonstrate exactly what you need to do at each stage. The footage is clear and accessible, with written descriptions that are short but easy to remember.

There’s also an option for a more advanced course if you already have basic CPR training; it works in a similar fashion, but offers additional techniques as long as you’re comfortable applying them.

The only downside is the peculiar, almost haunting music that plays in the background whenever you’re listening to a tutorial. Thankfully, they it can be turned off simply by switching your iPhone or iPad to silent.

At the end of each video tutorial you can also see review some written instructions, which offer far more detail and include some additional photographs for reference.

The app has a beautiful design, incorporating a simple navy and white colour scheme with a clear, crisp typeface. It’s also possible to add a monthly reminder for each course, so that you don’t forget to familiarise yourself with it again at a later date.

Coupled with a progress feature that will track exactly how many courses you’ve completed, Drops First Aid is a pretty flawless app. Its comprehensive tutorials and accessible presentation style make it a perfect companion for beginners and CPR experts alike.

It could also save someone’s life too, making it an easy recommendation and must-have app.
