Dreamstime launches on-the-go stock photo search for iOS and Android

Dreamstime launches on-the-go stock photo search for iOS and Android

If you’ve ever had to resort to using stock photography and video, it’s generally the large, established players like Getty Images or iStockphoto or Shutterstock that spring immediately to mind. But there are many other stock photo sources, some catering to more niche communities needing royalty-free art on-the-go.

Dreamstime, one such alternative, today announced Stock Photos by Dreamstime, a mobile app targeted to customers who want to purchase and download images directly to smartphones and tablets. The new Dreamstime app joins the company’s existing mobile app on iOS and Android that lets photographers to upload and sell images directly from their smartphones

Dreamstime aligns well with newer art and design apps that let you create almost-finished comps on the subway or in a coffee shop. Just use otherwise dead commuting time or coffee breaks to research images on smartphones and tablets, and then have content ready by the time you sit down at your desk. You can also use the app to share thoughts with colleagues immediately.

Dreamstime offers a dual-pane view so users can see both search results and a selected lightbox. Just tap and hold a thumbnail from your search results to add a photo to the lightbox.

The app offers real-time filtering by letting you pull down on the results and select or deselect filters on iOS or open the filters overlay on Android while still in the search screen.

Other amenities include iOS support of TouchID login; Android automatic cycling through free daily home screen wallpaper images and the ability to re-download images previously purchased on the Website.

Dreamstime is optimized for the iPhone 6 and 6+ and will soon be available for the iPad. StockPhotos by Dreamstime mobile is now available on the iTunes store and the Android app store.
