Non-profit organization The Dojo Foundation has released version 1.6 of its JavaScript toolkit making it quicker for developers to build web and mobile apps using the open source library.

The launch sees a number of updates to Dojo Mobile that enables rapid development of mobile web applications with a native look and feel on modern webkit-enabled mobile devices such as iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android and RIM smartphones and tablets.

Dojo Mobile is free, with liberal licensing under either the NewBSD and AFL open source licenses.
