Google’s ever-expanding roster of Chromecast-enabled apps gained seven new additions today, including Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and TuneIn Radio.
The remaining four apps – Sesame Street Go, EPIX, YuppTV and Encore – will also work with Google’s $35 Chromecast device from today. While it’s only seven more apps overall, each one counts given the number of different streaming devices now available to users.
When Chromecast first launched it had virtually no well known competitors, but now there’s Amazon’s Fire TV Stick, Playstation TV, Roku’s Streaming Stick and a number of other ways to turn a ‘dumb’ TV into a smart one, so each app really does count. Plus, they will all work nicely with Google’s new Android TV-based devices like the Nexus Player.
