Cloud-based helpdesk Zendesk hits 5,000 European customers in a year after opening its London HQ

Cloud-based helpdesk Zendesk hits 5,000 European customers in a year after opening its London HQ

Zendesk, the cloud-based customer service software provider, has reached its 5,000th European customer – not bad work as the company opened up shop for its European headquarters less than a year ago.

Intriguingly the 5,000th customer is a social gaming company. The firm, We R Interactive is using Zendesk to support the global user base for its first game, ‘I am playr‘ in which players take the first-person view point of a professional soccer player from the beautiful game to the beautiful girls. The game has seen great success of late as it hit one million active users at the start of this month.

Naturally Zendesk, which was originally founded in Copenhagen, is pleased to be spreading its business across the continent. Globally, its customers include Adobe, Sony, Yammer and Groupon, with more than 65 million people in 137 countries now receiving their customer service through the service.

Giving back locally

The company, whose new office in Paddington was recently opened by Lord Green, Minister for trade and invesment, has also announced its support of two local charities.

Emulating the recent pledge to raise one million dollars for the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, by the San Franciscan headquarters, Zendesk UK will be working with local Paddington charities St Mungos and COSMIC (Children of St Mary’s Intensive Care).

The company’s involvement will extend beyond donations, with the team working closely with each charity to help them in whatever way is necessary, whether that be marketing, fundraising or volunteering.

Zendesk is a keen advocate in giving back to the community. It also runs an Incubator Partners programme, which serves Europe’s ever-growing startup community by offering free access to the ‘Zendesk Plus+’ plan for a year.

Incubator Partners, such as Team Europe Ventures, Le Camping, hackFWD, TechHub, Techcelerate and Seedcamp, help encourage more startups to follow some of the best practices around customer service. More than 100 startups are already using Zendesk’s free software, totalling approximately £260,000 worth of investment from the company so far.
