New York startup Clark raised an $11M seed round led by Touring Capital and launched Clerks, AI agents that work through audits for CPA firms. More than 35 firms use its tools, it says, and it offers a 100% accuracy guarantee.

New York startup Clark has raised an $11M seed round led by Touring Capital to build AI agents that carry out audit work, the company said on Monday.

Marathon Management Partners, Rerail and Sofeon Ventures also joined. The company, which used to be called uiAgent, says it has now raised $16M in total.

Its new AI agents, called Clerks, are assigned to an audit much like a junior auditor. They review documents, run tests and prepare workpapers. If something is missing, a Clerk asks the client for it and picks the work back up once it arrives.

Human auditors still make the judgment calls and sign the final opinion, the same split Black Ore uses in its AI tax tool for accounting firms. Clark says more than 35 accounting firms use its tools, including CliftonLarsonAllen and Aprio.

Clark also offers firms a 100% accuracy guarantee. That matters in a field where Big Four firms have been caught publishing AI errors in their own reports.

“A promise of accuracy only means something when it has money behind it,” said founder and chief executive Enes Witwit.

Clark is one of several startups chasing audit work, a market Big Four firms charge for by the hour. Andera raised $37M in June to automate internal audits, and Benford is building an audit firm around its own software.
