Chrome for Mac and Linux out of beta. New Release For All Platforms “Fastest Yet.”

Chrome for Mac and Linux out of beta. New Release For All Platforms “Fastest Yet.”

Google has just announced the latest release of Chrome for Mac, Windows and Linux – supposedly the “fastest yet.”

This release has been available in beta for a good week or so but today the release is available to all Chrome users in stable release. Significantly, this is also the first non-beta release for Mac and Linux.

In its announcement, Google says:

The performance bar for all three versions keeps getting higher: today’s new stable release for Windows, Mac and Linux is our fastest yet, incorporating one of our most significant speed improvements to date. We’ve improved by 213 percent and 305 percent in Javascript performance by the V8 and SunSpider benchmarks since our very first beta, back in Chrome’s Cretaceous period (September 2008).

Today’s release also comes with a host of new features. Amongst other things you’re now not only able to synchronize bookmarks across multiple computers, but also browser preferences — including themes, homepage and startup settings, web content settings, preferred languages, and even page zoom settings.

It’s funny, with all these new features and speed increases…all I want as a blogger is three things. Full page browser screenshot extension, ability to drag images from the corners within the body of the WordPress editor and a decent version of Firebug. Clearly this is not what most other people are looking out for, so for you guys, this might just be the perfect browser huh?
