Cloud-based collaboration and file sharing software startup Box has inked a ‘strategic technology partnership’ with Deutsche Telekom in an effort reach more SMBs in Germany and beyond.
Under the agreement, Deutsche Telekom will offer Box’s platform as a “trusted, validated and supported” solution in its recently debuted Business Marketplace, which is kind of like an app store for cloud-based software for businesses.
Box and Deutsche Telekom share plans to extend the offering to businesses of all sizes across “many other markets” in the “near future”.
In addition, Deutsche Telekom and Box have signed an agreement that will see both firms working together to further extend their joint solutions in areas such as security and ease-of-use for SMBs as well as larger enterprises.
Deutsche Telekom regularly partners with innovative software startups – see our coverage of its deals with iZettle and Spotify, for example.
Comments Aaron Levie, co-founder and CEO of Box:
“Box was born in the cloud and built for today’s post-PC business landscape. We’re thrilled to be able to work with Deutsche Telekom and provide its customers with the ability to securely access and share information from anywhere, on any device.”
To date, Box claims more than 14 million people, at 140,000 businesses across the globe, use its solutions. The company recently opened offices in London and more than doubled its employee base in less than a year.
We recently had a nice chat with Box COO Dan Levin at the Dublin Web Summit – you can watch the video interview below.
