As good as mobile has gotten, there are points where it is still quite lacking behind what you’re able to do on the desktop. For me, since I spend a big part of my day in the browser, one of those lacking points is not having access to the plugins that I’ve come to reply upon to keep my life sane.
Boomerang for Gmail is one such plugin, which we’ve written about a few times here on TNW. The short version is that it not only allows you to schedule the sending of messages but it can let you receive them whenever it’s convenient for you too. The system has been near-flawless and it’s gathered widespread attention for being the answer to many peoples’ problems.
But until now, you couldn’t use Boomerang if you happened to be accessing your Gmail through Google’s mobile Gmail app (which is stellar, by the way) or if you happened to be using the Mail app on your Android or iOS device. In short, since Boomerang is a plugin, it simply wasn’t available.
With today’s introduction of Boomerang’s web-based mobile app, it’s one more problem solved. Just head over to the Boomerang for Mobile site (http://m.boomeranggmail.com) via your phone’s browser, log in to your Gmail or Google Apps Gmail and you’ll have a full suite of services available to you.
As you can see, it’s not just Boomerang. You have options to do a Send Later, as well as the ability to check what messages you’ve scheduled. The Preferences option lets you choose how messages that are returned to your inbox (Boomeranged) should be handled, whether they should appear as Starred, marked with a Boomerang tag or otherwise.
In short, it’s all the goodness of Boomerang for Gmail now in the palm of your hand. And since it’s a Web app, specifically designed for mobile, you can access it from any modern mobile device. Well done, Baydin. Well done indeed.
