BitTorrent has expanded their uTorrent Apps platform to include an SDK for developers.

The SDK includes tools, libraries and documentation, and, “the ecosystem will be completely open,” according to the BitTorrent blog. BitTorrent says that with the SDK, developers can tap into their 75 online consumers, so with an audience that large, certainly some developers will take a crack at this SDK.

The app challenge starts today and submissions are due by August 13, 2010. The top winner gets a $1,000 Amazon gift certificate and will be featured by BitTorrent (which of course is the whole point for BitTorrent: to spur on developers).
