We’re already lucky enough to have Kindle for Android, and Barnes & Noble seems painfully aware that it’s going to take a serious application to close that gap. With the Nook for Android, B&N has done well.
Of course the app has all of the Nook features that you’d expect, including cross-device synchronization and sharing. Beyond that, however, it’s just a really slick use of the Android’s interface and beautiful screens.
If you’ve been on the fence about which e-reader device to buy (and let’s face it, it’s a battle between Kindle and Nook, primarily), then seeing the features of the services via the mobile counterparts is a great look inside.
The Nook has a couple of features that really set it apart from the Kindle, including the ability to “loan” books to a friend for a specific amount of time. The Kindle, however, has a pretty amazing book selection and has a more established hold in the market.

If you want to grab Nook for Android, you’ll have to wait til a bit later in the day, but it’s well worth your time. You’ll also need a device that’s running Android 1.6 or higher, but that shouldn’t be much of an issue for the majority of the market.
