Backblaze might be busy working on building dirt-cheap developer storage, but it’s still pushing forward with its data backup product too.
Today it’s announcing that it’ll ship its customers a copy of their data on an external hard-drive or USB stick for free up to 4TB, provided they give the drive back.
It’s a handy feature that helps you recover when you’ve lost huge amounts of data that would take a long time to pull back down over the internet.
Most services require you to pay for the drive to get physical access to the data, but Backblaze won’t charge you anything if you return it within 30 days.
The company says that in 2015 it did more deliveries of restore drives than it did replace hard drives in its datacenters, which shows it’s a popular way to get yourself out of trouble.
If you’re not already backing up with a cloud-based service, Backblaze was one of our picks in our ultimate guide to backing up your computer.
