Apple showing pop-up ads in App Store to get older iPhone users to upgrade

According to Apple Insider, Apple seems to be running its own pop-up ads in the App store targeted at getting older iPhone users to upgrade to the 6s.

The ad presents users with a full screen image of the iPhone 6s and the slogan “ridiculously powerful,” as well as trying to entice users to click to “learn more” or “upgrade now.”

The pop-up seems to be targeted at those with an iPhone 5s and older, and only after they upgrade to iOS 9.2, which dropped on Tuesday.

It’s not going over well. Users have taken to Reddit and Twitter to voice their displeasure.
