Apple releases iOS 6.1.3 with lock screen bug fix, Maps updates for Japan and security patches

Apple has today released a software update that fixes a bug which allowed a complex combination of actions to get around a locked screen. The update is available now over the air to all iOS device owners.

This version of iOS also contains Apple Maps updates for users in Japan, so you should see more detailed and accurate maps in that region.

This update does fix the ‘lock screen bypass’ bug that made the rounds a few weeks ago. You can snag the new version using the Settings > Software Update section on your device or by plugging it into iTunes. The security content of the update isn’t yet posted on Apple’s site, but we’ll update once it is. Of note for jailbreakers, this update does fix some of the vulnerabilities needed to make the latest Evasi0n jailbreak possible, so don’t update if you want to retain that option.
