Apple CEO Tim Cook sends his first tweet

Apple CEO Tim Cook has joined Twitter as @tim_cook. Here’s his first tweet:

Cook doesn’t have verified status on the service (yet), but a spokesperson confirmed with CNBC that the account is authentic.

Update: Cook is now verified.

Timed to coincide with the release of the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, Cook and his lieutenants are in the midst of a media push. Cook, Jony Ive and Craig Federighi recently gave a rare set of interviews to USA Today and Businessweek. As noted in his tweet, Cook and other executives made an appearance at Apple Stores near the company’s headquarters.
