Amazon makes its final Kindle Christmas sales push with free US two-day delivery

Amazon makes its final Kindle Christmas sales push with free US two-day delivery

Amazon has made a final push to sell as many Kindle devices before Christmas, announcing that it will offer customers free two-day delivery on any of the Kindle range made before 8pm Pacific Time on December 21.

With consumers undoubtably rushing to finalise their Christmas shopping before the weekend, Amazon’s offer will resonate with many that have debated with the idea of buying a Kindle e-reader or Kindle Fire tablet for their friend or their loved one.

The free two-day shipping is eligible on orders of the $79 Kindle, $99 Kindle Touch, $149 Kindle Touch 3G and $199 Kindle Fire, devices that the online retail giant said are selling at a rate of more than 1 million units a week over a three week period.

Whilst Amazon’s Kindle Fire has been a bestseller on its website, it was also the bestselling tablet at Target stores on Black Friday, outselling its direct competitor, Barnes & Noble’s latest NOOK Tablet.

To redeem the free shipping offer, customers simply need to add a Kindle device into their shopping basket and then select the newly added two-day shipping option when they check out.

Unfortunately the offer is only available to U.S customers, a shame for those in other regions that were toying with the idea of buying a Kindle in the next couple of days.
