A book about Amazon — “The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon” written by Bloomberg Businessweek writer Brad Stone and released last month — is quickly escalating into a war of words between the author and the company.
After Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ wife lashed out against the book, leaving a one-star review on (where else) Amazon, the e-commerce giant has issued a statement to Business Insider criticizing Stone for not checking his facts thoroughly.
In the statement, Amazon says it facilitated meetings for Stone with more than six senior Amazon executives, “during which he had every opportunity to inquire about or fact-check claims made by former employees.” However, it claims that Stone chose not to do so.
The author, on the other hand, insists that he “exhaustively” fact checked the work with his sources, and earlier told Business Insider that he would correct any mistakes he may have made if they are clarified.
