The holidays are a great time to think about helping others, rather than focusing on what gifts you’d like to receive. Thanksgiving, specifically, is a time to be thankful for a lot of things. One of the things we should be thankful for is our health.
This Thanksgiving, social check-in site GetGlue is teaming up with Aflac to raise $1 for every check-in tomorrow.
GetGlue lets you “check-in” to programs you’re watching on TV, and there are quite a few Thanksgiving related shows that you’ll probably be watching already, so why not check-in for charity? Aflac will donate $1 to fight pediatric cancer for every single check-in.
Here’s what the company had to say about its Social Good efforts:
On Thanksgiving Day we encourage you to step away from the kitchen for a bit and tune-in to The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on NBC at 9am/8c. When you do, keep an eye out for a new feathered friend floating down Broadway with the other balloons: that’s the Aflac Duck making his big debut! We got a sneak peek at the little quack and score it high in the adorable and awesome categories.
But that’s really just the start of it. When you check-in to the parade on GetGlue Aflac will donate $1 in your honor to fight pediatric cancer. Talk about a deserving cause! Moreover, all check-ins will be counted, so check-in early and often.
Up to one million dollars, Aflac is donating $1 for EVERY GetGlue check-in on Thanksgiving, even if it’s not relating to the Macy’s parade. That’s really awesome.
There’s one more thing though. As you check-in on GetGlue tomorrow, you can grab one of its Thanksgiving Day stickers, and Aflac is donating $1 for each one of those earned as well.
This is a perfectly executed way for GetGlue to grab some new users, gain more usage, and raise some money to help kids fighting cancer. This is the definition of “Social Good“. Be sure to check-in during your busy Thanksgiving, it could help give someone else something to be thankful for.
