Pinterest is a great source of inspiration, a great place to share your favourite photos, products, designs and more. The site, founded last year, is still invite-only and yet has racked up over 4 million active users, according to its Facebook page. All of this with only 7 team members to its name.
Pinterest’s success has made for a great community of people sharing some fascinating and gorgeous things. We’ve put together a list of suggestions, so if you’re just getting started with Pinterest, or are looking for some new users to follow – these 10 Pinterest members are doing some pretty cool things with their accounts. And if you’re still waiting for your Pinterest invite, you can still keep up with these users and more by subscribing to their RSS feeds.
Croft Global Travel
Looking for an interesting travel oriented account to follow? Craft Global Travel, a Virginia-based web adventure travel company is using Pinterest to share recommendations on places to go, travel books to read, and essential travel swag to take with you on the go. But our favourite CGT board features a small (but we hope growing) collection of license plates from all over the world.
Drake University
Drake University’s Pinterest account is run by the university’s own students. A group of student interns in the Office of Marketing & Communication are the ones behind all of the pinning, turning Drake University’s account is a handy little guide to university living. The Iowa university currently has 11 boards with ideas for dorm room decor, university paraphernalia for alumni to jazz up their offices and tips on easy-to-cook goodies you can whip up in your room. Our favourite board, however, has to be the collection of bulldogs, celebrating the university’s mascot.

Jane Wang
If there is one person you should be following on Pinterest, it’s Jane Wang. There is no topic that Wang hasn’t covered, so it’s no wonder she has over one million followers. With everything from design and architecture, to fashion and fitness, you’re bound to find at least one board that’s of interest to you. Of course all of that would be nothing without her exquisite taste, so if you’re just getting started on Pinterest – this is one of the first accounts you’ll want to follow.
Perfect Palette
If you’re looking for all things wedding related on Pinterest, the first account you need to take a look at is Perfect Palette. With every colour palette you could imagine, and boards dedicated to bouquets, wedding labels and invitations, candles, cakes and more, if you’re in the market for some wedding inspiration, this is the best place to look.
OhJoy
Blogger Joy Cho’s Pinterest page, Oh Joy, lives up to its name. Joy’s passion for design, fashion and food comes right through, so if any of those three topics are of interest to you, this is the page to check out. Everything from mouthwatering delectables which will have you heading right for your fridge to some pretty cool fonts, Joy’s over 600,000 followers are kept up to date with some incredibly inspiring and varied imagery.

GeekSugar
Looking for all things geek on Pinterest, you can trust that Geeksugar‘s account has you covered. With dedicated boards for geek staples like Dr. Who, Star Wars and Star Trek, you know you can’t go wrong with this account. Sci-fi geekery aside, photo-geeks, space-geeks and retro-geeks will all find something that appeals to them. Geeksugar’s Pinterest page, like the site, is also a great source for the latest in geek products and apparel.
Ben Stovold
Pinterest certainly seems to be dominated by the ladies but London-based iOS developer and designer Ben Stovold‘s Pinterest page is going to appeal to the fashion conscious guy geeks in our midst. With fashion, photography, home decor, geek apparel and more, Ben’s page is a great guide on the best in geek style for men.
Christine Martinez
If you’re looking for a splash of colour and some pretty cool quotes and typography, Christina Martinez’s Pinterest page practically pops right out of the screen. Furniture, clothes, quotes, food, photography and more. It’s all in there. It’s bright, it’s pretty, and it’s no surprise that she’s got over 800,000 followers.
Amy Leader
For the fashion history buffs, Amy Leader has one of the most interesting fashion Pinterest accounts we’ve seen. Her boards are a fascinating study in fashion styles ranging from Victorian to the 1960s, and everything in between, there’s a great variety of styles on display. Alongside the great fashion boards, you’ll find some great colour palettes, wonderful ideas for gifts and food, good music and more.
Ccil G.
France-based photographer Ccil G is a great account for photography fans to follow. Not only does she showcase her own work, which is a great way to put Pinterest to work for you, she also showcases work by famous photographers, interesting portraits, as well as some great art posted on Flickr and other photo sharing sites.
Ton Roque deserves a special mention in the photography category. His Pinterest account features some of the greatest photos ever taken – from Vivien Maier to Henri Cartier Bresson – there’s some stunning and inspiring photography to browse through, but unfortunately the account hasn’t been updated in a while. The idea is definitely one worth emulating.
And while you’re at it, don’t forget to check out The Next Web’s account on Pinterest!
