Tencent partners with Disney to exclusively stream Star Wars in China

China’s largest internet firm Tencent has struck a deal with Disney to exclusively stream the first six Star Wars movies in the lead up to the release of ‘The Force Awakens‘ in December.

Excitement for the franchise is at a high after the marketing push of  Force Friday and the release of merchandise like the BB-8.

This is the first time the Chinese market will have digital access to the movies and it’s a smart move by Disney to take advantage of Tencent’s massive user base.

Tencent has created a new Star Wars hub to showcase and promote the collaboration, which has behind the scenes footage, a merchandise store and details on the history of the Saga.
