Star Wars fanatics will go out of their way to take part in Force Friday, but I’m willing to bet $4,000 is probably where they draw the line.
Pottery Barn, American home furnishing store and professional dream crusher, today put its Millennium Falcon bedframe up for sale for four pretty grands.
And that’s not even an adult-sized bed: The Star Wars™ Bed fits a twin bed for your sweet Padawan. Which, if you decide to purchase it, is probably about all you’ll be able to afford if you want to make sure your only hope goes to college one day.
What justifies the $4K cost? According to the item description, the bed is hand-painted and made from real hardwood – plus whatever licensing fees Pottery Barn needed to rip everyone off. Millennium Falcon bed does not, in fact, fly, transport you through hyperspace or shoot lasers.
The control panel isn’t even pushable; it appears to be a straight paint job or just stickers.
If you’re on a tighter budget, you can always opt for the Sphero BB-8 robot at a slightly more reasonable price of $150. For what it’s worth, BB-8s are already going on eBay for as high as $498.
Happy Force Friday to our wallets, y’all.
