Yahoo Music taps The Echo Nest for dynamic artist bios and music discovery

Yahoo Music has signed a multi-year partnership with The Echo Nest to harness the company’s Dynamic Music Data for its artist bios and new music discovery features.

The Echo Nest, which I recently described as a key player in the evolution of the personalized Web, will put its machine-learning system to work surfacing relevant music reviews, blogs, images and social media content for hundreds of thousands of artists.

Yahoo recently overhauled its music site as part of a company-wide design refresh. The new discovery features include location-based music recommendations and updates on artist activity.

The Echo Nest has steadily proven the value of its data-centric approach by teaming up with the biggest players in the music industry. The BBC, Fuse/MSG Network, KCRW and MTV also use the company’s Dynamic Music Data. Rdio recently turned on new personalized music stations powered by The Echo Nest, and Spotify, eMusic and iHeartRadio work with the startup as well.
