Kobo e-readers are coming to Portugal, starting from $129

Kobo e-readers are coming to Portugal, the digital publishing and hardware company announced today. This is the result of a partnership with the local subsidiary of French culture retail chain Fnac, which will sell them in its stores and on its website, www.fnac.pt.

Kobo and Fnac already have a similar agreement in place for the French market. In Portugal, the starting price for the e-readers will be €99.90, around $129 USD.

In addition to its e-readers, Kobo will also launch its digital bookstore, which boasts “thousands” of titles in Portuguese, such as José Saramago’s ‘Memorial do Convento’ and João Ricardo Pedro’s ‘O Teu Rosto Será o Último.’

A few days ago, the Rakuten-owned company announced that its devices would go on sale in independent bookshops across the UK and Ireland thanks to a new partnership with the Booksellers Association. Earlier this year, it partnered with Livraria Cultura to expand into Brazil.

The company also recently unveiled additional details on its upcoming Arc tablet range, but today’s announcement didn’t mention whether and/or when those devices will launch in Portugal.
